The Bethlehem Lutheran Confirmation classes are for students who are in 6th, 7th, 8th, & 9th grades.

In 6th grade, we will learn the basics of the Bible – Old Testament in the fall and New Testament stories in the spring. Learn to love God’s Holy Word as stories of real people come alive. They are like you with joys and worries, good and bad behavior, and questions about life and about God. Grow to trust the promises of our incredible God who made each person unique and who wants you to have the best life ever. Bring your Bibles each week, please!

In 7th & 8th grade, you will meet with Pastor Ann to study Martin Luther’s Small catechism which is a summary of how Lutheran’s understand the Bible. This year we will do the Lord’s Prayer, Ten Commandments, and Lutheran Doctrine. Next year we will do the Sacraments of Holy Communion and Baptism, and study the Apostles Creed. Both years we will see how worship fits into our faith life. During Lent you will participate in the Mentor Program.

9th graders will be confirmed on Reformation Sunday, October 29, 2017. During September and October the students will work with a mentor to develop a statement of faith. They will also meet with Pastor Ann to discuss their faith statement. During September and October students are required to turn in two sermon/worship responses. Confirmation is a rite and a privilege which gives you the opportunity to say “yes” in public to God and to the church. That means you believe in Jesus and want to live out your faith with our church family. It is not required for membership at Bethlehem or for being a Christian, but it is a special way to help you think and pray about what you believe and how you can relate to God. It’s about growing in your faith and commitment to worship and to giving a portion of your time, talents and money for God’s work in the world. Your family and your church hope and pray that you will make this important step in your life of faith.
